Adam Wiencken, Battery Arranger/Co-Caption Head

Adam Is the Percussion Specialist for Broken Arrow Public Schools in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma. As Director of Percussion and Battery Arranger for the Pride of Broken Arrow Marching Band, the ensemble is a consistent Bands of America (BOA) Regional Champion and Grand National Finalist.  As Director and Founder of Broken Arrow High School Indoor Percussion, the program has received high accolades in its short history, capturing three Winter Guard International (WGI) Regional Championships; in 2017 and 2018, Broken Arrow Indoor was a Scholastic World WGI World Championship Semi-Finalist. Also, under Adam’s direction, the Broken Arrow High School Percussion Ensemble performed at the 70th Midwest Clinic in Chicago, Illinois in December of 2016.  Adam currently serves as Battery Arranger for the Spirit of Atlanta Drum and Bugle Corps.  Previously, Adam was a percussion staff member at The Cadets Drum and Bugle Corps from 2013-2016; in 2013, The Cadets were awarded the Drum Corps International (DCI) Fred Sanford Award for High Percussion Performance. He previously served on the instructional staff for the Santa Clara Vanguard, Troopers, Crossmen, and Blue Stars Drum & Bugle Corps. Adam is an alumnus of the Madison Scouts and The Cavaliers Drum and Bugle Corps.  Adam received his bachelor’s at the Jacobs School of Music at Indiana University in Bloomington, Indiana.  Throughout his studies at Indiana, Adam studied with John Tafoya, Kevin Bobo, Steve Houghton, and Craig Hetrick.

Chris Hodgson, Co-Caption Head

Chris Hodgson studied percussion at Butler University in Indianapolis, IN where he holds a bachelor’s and master’s degree in Music Education.  Chris marched drum corps from 2005-2007 with the Seattle Cascades, Capital Regiment, and the Troopers; additionally, he has played with the Star United Drumline, Indianapolis Colts Drumline, and the 2012 Super Bowl Halftime Drumline.  Chris has been teaching percussion at local schools in the Indianapolis area for many years.  As an alumnus, he first taught as a Percussion Instructor at Center Grove High School.  He then was the Percussion Director for Greenfield Central High School from 2008-2012, and now is currently in his 8th year as the Percussion Director for Franklin Central High School, a 4-time WGI Scholastic World Class Finalist from 2016 to 2019.

Kevin Welborn, Consultant
Kevin Welborn is the Associate Director of Athletic Bands and Director of Pep Bands at The University of Alabama.  Mr. Welborn is also the director of the percussion section of the Million Dollar Band, as well as the conductor of the Alabama Concert Band. He holds both a Bachelor and master’s degree in music education from The University of Southern Mississippi, where he studied under Dr. Thomas Fraschillo and Dr. John Wooton.  Mr. Welborn served as the Director of Bands for the Clinton Public School District in Clinton, Mississippi from 2015-2019.  Before the appointment of Director of Bands, Mr. Welborn was an Assistant Director/Director of Percussion at Clinton from 2009-2015. The Clinton Indoor Percussion Ensemble also earned the Silver medal in the 2013 WGI “Scholastic A”, the Gold medal in the 2014 WGI “Scholastic Open” and was a 10th place finalist in the 2015 WGI “Scholastic World” World Championships.  Kevin is an alumnus of the Carolina Crown and Santa Clara Vanguard Drum and Bugle Corps. He was on the percussion staff at The Cavaliers Drum and Bugle Corps from 2016-2018; he also served as the Percussion Caption Head for the Troopers Drum and Bugle Corps from 2009-2012.  Kevin was a percussion staff member for the Troopers in 2007 and 2008, as well as Memphis Sound Drum and Bugle corps in 2004 and 2005. Kevin enjoys spending time and designing/teaching alongside his wife, Karen, who has an extensive national color guard background.

Jack Bounds, Snares
Jack Bounds is a percussionist and resident of Murfreesboro, TN, where he is curren

tly completing his master’s degree in Music Performance at MTSU. He is from Hattiesburg, MS, where he earned his undergraduate degree in Music Education from the University of Southern Mississippi.  Jack spent four years in the DCI activity; 2012 with Troopers of Casper, WY, and 2013-15 with the Cadets from Allentown, Pennsylvania. Jack currently teaches and performs music as a percussionist in the Murfreesboro/Nashville area.

Trevor Downey, Snares
Trevor received his bachelor’s in music education at Northeastern State University and is currently a graduate teaching assistant at the University of Oklahoma pursuing his Master’s in Percussion performance.  Trevor’s performance experience includes the Academy Drum and Bugle Corps (2013-2014), Blue Stars Drum and Bugle Corps (2015-2016), and Vigilantes Indoor Percussion (2018). He is a current Percussion Staff member with Broken Arrow High School in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma.

Tony Teleky, Snares
Tony Teleky, from Waldorf, Maryland, is currently attending Duke University to study Mechanical Engineering and Materials Science. He was a member of Broken City Percussion, earning WGI PIW Silver and Bronze medals in the 2017 and 2018 seasons respectively. Tony was a member of The Cadets from 2014-2017, earning a DCI World Class Bronze Medal in 2014 and a Distinguished Service Award as the battery/snare section leader in 2

017.  Additional marching experience includes 2016 Cadets Winter Percussion, 2013 Imperial Dynasty Indoor, George Mason University Indoor in 2012 (WGI PIO Gold Medal) and 2014. He marched in DCA with Cadets2 in 2013. He was selected for the US Army All-American Marching Band in 2014 and marched in the Macy’s Great American Marching Band from 2011-2013. His most recent full percussion arrangement credit was with Huntington High School, winning the Tournament of Bands Atlantic Coast Championships in 2018.

Jabil Kairuz, Tenors
Jabil Kairuz lives in Roswell, GA and is currently working as Battery Coordinator for the Alan C. Pope High School Marching Band. Having previously taught at Central Gwinnett High School, North Gwinnett High School, and Lambert High School, Jabil has more recently taught at the DCI World Class level, working with Music City in 2019.
While living in the Atlanta area, Jabil has performed with the Georgia Tech Marching band, Atlanta Falcons Drumline, and Q2 Indoor Drumline. After marching quads at The Troopers Drum & Bugle Corps, Jabil joined the Santa Clara Vanguard, where he helped win the Fred Sanford Award in 2017 and 2018, as well as a gold medal. Jabil is currently studying Mechanical Engineering at Kennesaw State University and is excited to begin his first year working with the Spirit of Atlanta percussion section.

Webb Sheely, Tenors
Webb Sheely is a percussion performer and educator from Columbia, Missouri. He currently studies music education at the University of North Texas, where he is training with renowned percussionists including Paul Rennick, Mark Ford and Christopher Deane.  As a student of North Texas, Webb has performed with multiple percussion ensembles, the 2 O’Clock Steel Band and has been the section leader of the UNT Brass Band. Webb has previously taught the Boonevile High School Drumline, as well as the University of North Texas Green Brigade Tenorline.

Thomas Young, Tenors
Thomas Young is studying as a Music Education Major at The University of Central Oklahoma. Thomas performed with the Oklahoma City Thunder Drummers for the 2016-2017 NBA season.  Thomas marched with Vigilantes Indoor Percussion in 2017 and 2018. In the Summer of 2018, Thomas marched with the Santa Clara Vanguard, receiving a Gold Medal and the High Percussion Fred Sanford Award. Thomas has been the Drum Line Technician for Edmond North High School for the past four years and Owasso High School for one year. He’s also been the Quad Technician for Broken Arrow High School for the past three years.

Rhema Baissa, Basses

Rhema Baissa is from Tulsa, Oklahoma and is currently a student at Oklahoma State University majoring in Psychology. Rhema’s marching experience is extensive, which includes the Colts Drum and Bugle Corps (2017), The Cavaliers Drum and Bugle Corps (2018), Blue Knights Drum and Bugle Corps (2019), and Monarch Independent (2017-2019). Rhema is a graduate of Union High School and has served as a battery technician at Union since 2018.

Logan Gott, Basses
Logan is an alumnus of Dobyns-Bennett High School, as well as Tennessee Tech University. In 2011 and 2012, he marched with Spirit of Atlanta; in 2013 and 2014, he marched in HolyBass at The Cadets, winning the DCI Fred Sanford Award under Colin McNutt in 2013. From 2012 to 2015, he marched in the bass line at Music City Mystique, where he has been a bass technician since 2016. Currently, he works as a Production Engineer living in Knoxville, Tennessee with his wife Elizabeth and his puppy Rosie.

Zac Simons, Basses
Zac is the Percussion Assistant and Middle School Percussion Instructor for the Broken Arrow Band Program in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma. Zac served as the Drumline Technician and Bass Drum specialist for the Pride of Oklahoma for the 2017 and 2018 seasons. While working with the Pride, the group visited and performed in the Rose Bowl in Pasadena, California, the Sugar Bowl in New Orleans, Louisiana and the AT&T Stadium in Dallas, Texas.  Zac is returning for his second year on staff with Spirit of Atlanta. He is an alumnus of The Cavaliers Drum and Bugle Corps. In addition, he received his Bachelor’s in Music Education from the University of Oklahoma. While at the University of Oklahoma, he studied with Brian Britt, Lance Drege, Glen Buecker, Ben Holmes, and Andrew Richardson.
