Orlando Opens Spirit of Atlanta’s 50th Anniversary Auditions

Auditions for the 2026 Spirit of Atlanta season kick off in Orlando, the first stop on the corps’ audition tour and the opening event of its 50th anniversary year. The visit gives prospective members an early chance to perform for staff and set their path toward the summer.


The audition is drop-in at Oviedo High School, 601 King Street, Oviedo, FL 32765. After check-in, candidates meet one-on-one with a staff member in their caption, perform music and movement from the audition packet, and receive brief feedback. Sessions run 20 to 30 minutes. Results and next steps are sent the following week. All prospects must pay for auditions online - there will be no cash accepted on site. Audition FAQ


What level of performer do you need to be to audition for Spirit of Atlanta?

All levels are welcome. We evaluate musical and visual skills, learning pace, attitude, and team fit. If you are motivated and prepared, you should audition.


Do I need to bring my own instrument or equipment?

Brass players must bring their own instruments. Percussionists must bring sticks and mallets. We will provide percussion instruments. Guard should bring personal equipment when possible. Bring a printed copy of your audition packet.


Is there a movement portion of the audition?

Yes. You will complete a short movement block. Wear athletic clothing and shoes that let you move comfortably.


How long will my audition take and what is the format?

This is a drop in format. After check in, you will meet one on one with a staff member in your caption, perform the packet material, complete the movement block, and receive feedback. Expect 20 to 30 minutes.


What happens if I pass the first round?

You will be invited to our callback camp in the Atlanta area, Friday, January 16 through Sunday, January 18, 2026. This is the first full rehearsal weekend for the 2026 season and the final evaluation before contracts. The fee is $125, which includes instruction, meals, and housing. We will share final roster decisions the following week.


What should I bring to the audition?

Bring your instrument or sticks, a printed audition packet, a portable music stand, water, snacks, and athletic clothing and shoes.


When will I hear back after the audition?

We will contact you during the week following the event with your status and next steps.


Do I need to register and pay before arriving?

Yes. You must register and pay your audition fee before arrival. Walk ins will not be accepted.

Spirit of Atlanta is partnering with Infinity Percussion to host this audition. Please respect their rehearsal spaces and staff.

Use the north parking lot near the baseball field off North Division Avenue. Follow signs to Check In and Warm Up, which are in the nearby academic building.

Percussionists will have a marimba available all day. Battery equipment will be available starting at 5:00 PM. If you need a vibraphone, drum set, or other items, contact us in advance. A Spirit of Atlanta staff member will be on campus all day and can meet Infinity Percussion staff as early as needed.
