The Spirit of Atlanta audition process is designed to give you a genuine experience of what it’s like to be part of our corps. Throughout the audition day, you’ll follow a schedule that closely mirrors a typical rehearsal, immersing you in the routines, expectations, and intensity of life at Spirit of Atlanta.

Auditions begin with performers breaking into their respective sections (brass, percussion, guard) for focused practice on music and movement drills. These sectionals allow you to work closely with others in your discipline, developing teamwork skills while showcasing your individual talents.

During your sectional time, you’ll also have the opportunity to participate in a one-on-one session with a member of our educational team. This session is more than just an evaluation—it’s a chance for you to connect with our instructors, receive personalized insights, and ask questions about the season ahead. We see this part of the audition as a two-way street: not only do we evaluate your skills and potential, but you also get to know our team and how we work together.

Our goal is to foster a supportive, encouraging environment where you feel empowered to perform at your best. You’ll receive constructive feedback on your audition, highlighting both your strengths and areas to refine. We believe that every performer deserves an experience that is both challenging and affirming, setting the stage for growth as you move through the audition and training process.

Select returning members of Spirit of Atlanta from the 2025 season who are in good standing will automatically advance to the callback round for 2026.

While attendance at an in-person camp is not mandatory, this season is expected to be highly competitive, and we encourage returning members to attend as many camps as possible.

Please note that no returning member is guaranteed a spot for the upcoming season; each individual must continue to earn their place by upholding and elevating their performance to the highest standards of excellence.

Yes, we will accept video auditions throughout the winter and spring until all performer positions are filled. After you receive feedback from our staff, you may be asked to attend a winter camp before membership is confirmed. If you are offered a membership agreement, you will be required to attend the April camp. To audition by video, you will need to create an account in UltraCamp, purchase the audition packet material, and register for the video audition to submit your audition.

Anyone aged 16 to 21 is welcome to audition for Spirit of Atlanta. DCI guidelines restrict participation to individuals who are 21 or younger. Unfortunately, if you turn 22 on or before June 1, you are ineligible to compete. However, if your 22nd birthday falls after June 1 but before the last day of the season, you’re eligible to participate in 2026. We recommend that participants be at least 16 years old.

Yes, you can audition in more than one area within the same section (such as brass, percussion, or guard). We ask that you select one primary instrument or role for your audition, and if you’d like to demonstrate skills in another area, simply let us know during your audition!

For our one-day auditions, there are no housing accommodations, you will need to provide your own.

During the January call-back camp, and subsequent camps thereafter, you'll be eating, rehearsing, sleeping, and showering at the designated school. Participants usually sleep in the school gymnasium and use the school's locker rooms for showering. Meals will be served from the Spirit of Atlanta food truck, offering a complete drum corps experience.

We designate separate sleeping zones based on gender, age (adults 18-over separated from members 17 & under) and whenever possible, use separate gyms or areas. Signs are clearly posted to designate male or female sleeping areas.

Shower facilities are organized by age group (under 18 and 18+) and gender. Should you require special accommodations, please inform the Spirit of Atlanta administration ahead of time.

Prior to each camp, we request participants to complete an RSVP form. This form helps us prepare for your arrival and adapt to your dietary needs, so be specific.

Yes - we have conductor positions open! Please purchase an audition packet to prepare for the auditions.

In 2025, all front ensemble candidates attend a live, in-person audition or submit a video audition. A select group of candidates will then be invited to join us for a callback camp in January, where the audition process will continue.

Satellite/One-Day Camps:

These camps usually run from 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM. Please arrive at least 45 mins to an hour early for all camps to ensure you can get checked in and find your way to your section location. Full Weekend Camps:

Doors open at 5:00 PM, and check-in begins at 7:00 PM on Friday. Camps typically conclude on Sunday at 2:00 PM, following our show and tell performance which usually starts at 12:00 PM (times are subject to change: check the corps social media sites for specific times).

Itineraries for all camps are emailed by the Monday prior to each camp.

• Battery: We provide drums, but bringing your own equipment is encouraged. A practice pad is a must.

• Front Ensemble: The corps instruments will be used; however, bring your own set of mallets.

• Brass: You are encouraged to bring your own instrument and mouthpiece as horns will be in limited supply.

• Color Guard: flags are provided. For those wanting to audition for a weapon spot, we offer limited options, so feel free to bring your own.

Sportswear and athletic shoes are recommended for optimum mobility during stretching and visual exercises. For color guard auditions, wear comfortable attire.

For one-day audition camps, this is not provided. Transportation to and from the airport is available for full weekend camps. requests must be made one week prior to the camp.

Attendance at all camps is not mandatory but is advised for an enriching educational experience. To be considered for Spirit of Atlanta membership, attendance at a minimum of one audition is required.

Our 2026 Spring Training and Tour will span approximately 75 days. Prospective members should plan to move into Spring Training over Memorial Day Weekend. We understand that some students may still have school commitments during this period—please coordinate with your caption head to arrange joining the corps as soon as your school term concludes. The season will wrap up on August 9, 2026, in Indianapolis at the Drum Corps International World Championships.

These fees help cover the cost of facility rentals, allowing us to secure safe, comfortable spaces for rehearsals and instruction.
