Meet the 2027 Spirit of Atlanta Caption Heads
Spirit of Atlanta is proud to introduce the caption heads who will guide our members through the 2027 season. Coming off a 10th-place finish at the 2026 DCI World Championship Finals, the corps is building on that momentum with experienced leaders in audio, visual, battery percussion, and color guard. Get to know them below.
Shaun Brown, Audio Caption Head
Shaun Brown is a freelance audio engineer and system designer based in Charlotte, North Carolina, serving clients throughout the Southeast. A graduate of Western Carolina University with a degree in Commercial Music and Audio Production, Shaun works across studio recording and post-production, live music production, broadcasting, and corporate AV.
Shaun has spent the past two years as an Audio Lead with Spirit of Atlanta. He has also worked on the audio team for Carolina Crown and serves as Audio Lead for PIW Ensemble Civitas Independent during the winter season. He runs an audio equipment sales, system design, and consultation business focused on the pageantry arts, helping bands and programs access professional audio expertise they might not otherwise have.
Outside of audio and pageantry, Shaun enjoys golfing, watching football (go Steelers!), and spending time with his girlfriend and friends.
Patrick Forrester, Visual Caption Head
Patrick Forrester is Director of Bands at Valdosta State University, where he teaches graduate and undergraduate conducting, conducts the VSU Wind Ensemble, and leads the VSU Blazin' Brigade Marching Band. He has been teaching, designing, and adjudicating in the marching arts since 2013.
The 2027 season will be Patrick's fifth year on the Spirit of Atlanta educational faculty as Visual Caption Head. He lives in Hahira, Georgia, with his wife, Angelle, and their dog, Caffrey.
Adam Wiencken, Battery Arranger and Caption Head
Adam Wiencken has served as Battery Arranger and Caption Head for Spirit of Atlanta since 2020. He was previously a percussion staff member with The Cadets (2013–2016) and has taught with the Blue Stars, Santa Clara Vanguard, Troopers, and Crossmen. Adam is an alumnus of the Madison Scouts and The Cavaliers.
Adam is the Percussion Specialist for Broken Arrow Public Schools in Oklahoma, where the band has been a frequent BOA Regional Champion and Grand National Finalist, winning Grand National titles in 2011, 2015, and 2021. He founded Broken Arrow High School Indoor Percussion and has led it to six WGI Regional Championships and five Scholastic World Class Finals appearances.
An active arranger and adjudicator, Adam serves on the WGI Percussion Advisory Board. He earned his bachelor's degree from the Jacobs School of Music at Indiana University and is a Yamaha Performing Artist.
Korey Craven, Colorguard Designer and Caption Head
Korey Craven enters his second season as Spirit of Atlanta's Colorguard Caption Head and continues to lead the Delta Diamonds in 2027. A colorguard designer and educator from Spartanburg, South Carolina, Korey performed with the Carolina CrownGUARD (2017–2018) and spent nine seasons with Étude Winterguard, finishing his performing career as a 2024 WGI World Championships Silver Medalist.
Korey served on the Carolina Crown colorguard staff from 2023 to 2025 and has been an instructor and choreographer with Étude Winterguard since 2025. He lives in Charlotte, North Carolina, and is the Colorguard Director at Nation Ford High School in Fort Mill, South Carolina.
